Unusual Vintage "Shur-Stop Signal" wall mounted automatic carbon-tet Fire
Extinguisher. As manufactured by the International Fire Equipment Corp. of
Staten Island, New York. When tripped by a elevated high-heat ambient, the
lever is released and it fires off a 32 cal. Blank cartridge and the pin
breaks the glass grenade and the "report" is suppose to alert the resident.
You can see the blank cartridge in one of the photos. This has a patent date
of 1923. I have only seen two of these extinguishers. Note: The glass carbon
tet cartridge can not be shipped because of the hazardous shipping
classification.
