Pair of very early Chicago apparatus lamps. These electrified lamps were
from the estate of Cincinnati Fire Chief Barney Houston, purchased at
auction in 2004. He was the longest acting Chief in Cincinnati Fire
Department's history (1916-1957) and these lamps were presented to him from
the Chicago Fire Department sometime in past history. They originated from a
early Chicago Fire Hose Buggy and were electrified in Chicago's shop. This
information was announced at the auction. These lamps have been mounted on
two blocks of wood with integral switches and they need to be re-wired
because of the age of the original wiring. They stand 21 1/2" tall and are 3
1/4" at the base. This set is very unique and in very good condition.
